One of the most important decisions you can make when planning a vacation to Walt Disney World is where you will stay. You will find thousands of options in Orlando, both on and off Disney property.
If you want to truly experience Disney and all it has to offer, staying at a Disney resort is highly recommended.
Some people refer to this as the “Disney bubble” because there is something unique and unforgettable about feeling like you never have to leave all the “magic.”
Keep reading if you aren’t sure if staying at a Disney resort is right for your vacation. Here you can learn more about why this may be a smart way to experience all the magic Disney has to offer.
An Immersive Experience
When you stay at a Disney resort hotel, you have the same amazing storytelling, service, and detail that you love in the parks.
The resorts offer fantastical settings inspired by both imagined and real worlds. During your stay, you will feel like you left day-to-day normalcy and entered into the world of “happily ever after.”
Each resort option provides you with unique accommodations, distinctive, often themed dining, and an array of options that aren’t available to guests staying off-site.
Some of the more specific ways you are immersed in Disney magic by staying at an on-site resort include:
Proximity
When you stay at a Disney resort or if you choose to purchase a grand floridian dvc resale option, you are close by water parks, theme parks, and all types of Disney-related shopping.
Amenities and Activities
Each Disney resort hotel offers amenities and activities designed to help you really get into the Disney way of life.
You will find themed pools, character dining, interesting activities, and more.
Endless Possibilities
You have several options when it comes to Disney resorts. Because of this, you are bound to find one that fits your needs.
Regardless of if you choose based on theme or budget, Disney World offers so much more than just a place to sleep at night.
Access to Extra Magic Hours
When you stay at a Disney resort, you have access to one park every day of your stay, after or before normal operating hours. The program is called Extra Magic Hours.
Disney has a schedule that lets you know what parts will be open late or early every day.
It’s smart to arrive at the part a minimum of 30 minutes before the Extra Magic Hours start to get the most out of this additional time.
Discounted MagicBands
In the past, Disney provided free MagicBands to resort guests. However, this isn’t the case anymore.
While this is true, you can still get discounts and customize your MagicBand before your trip and six days before your check-in.
If you customize your MagicBands a minimum of 11 days before your scheduled visit, you can ship them to your home.
During customization, you can select the color you want and add a name or nickname to the inside of the band. All this can be done on the My Disney Experience website.
If you have stayed at a resort in the past and have an older MagicBand, you can use it for your upcoming trip.
Now the MagicBands also serve as a key to your room, which means you can use mobile check-in and never go to the lobby.
Easy Transportation
When you stay at a Disney resort, it is easy to get around. All you must do is take advantage of the on-site transportation options.
Transportation Options
When staying at a Disney resort, you have access to monorail, boat, and bus transportation services. These can take you all over the property and to almost any destination you have planned.
Some resorts even have walking paths to the nearby parks.
The most recent addition to the transportation options is the Disney Skyliner. You can access this at:
- Disney’s Riviera Resort
- Disney’s Hollywood Studios
- Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort
- Epcot (International Gateway)
- Disney’s Art of Animation Resort
- Disney’s Pop Century Resort
Each of these offers other transportation options, too, which ensure you can easily get to any location desired.
Parking
When you stay at a Disney resort, you have complimentary standard parking at theme parks, water parks, and Disney Springs. If you stay off-site, you must pay for parking each day.
There is a parking fee assessed at the resort where you are staying. The fee is assessed per day of your time at the resort, so make sure to factor this into your budget.
Airport Transportation
If you are arriving via plane, you can take advantage of Disney’s Magical Express Service. It provides transportation between Orlando International Airport and your Disney Resort hotel.
Starting January 1st, 2022, though, this service will be discontinued.
